Volcanic, cultural and exotic, Lanzarote offers its visitors a wide range of activities throughout the year. To enjoy its thousand and one charms, nothing beats packing your bags in the charming village of Tias.

Authentic: this is what defines the municipality of Tias so well. Located overlooking the magnificent seaside resort of Puerto del Carmen, Tias is one of those small, 100% picturesque Canary Islands cities where it is pleasant to stroll. With its narrow streets dotted with palm trees and houses all painted white, this elegant village is a real postcard of everything that is done in Lanzarote. The municipality even houses some sublime Gaudi-style houses, also in white, set with stones, coloured mosaics, asymmetrical balustrades, high domes, arabesques and artistic modules. We love them or hate them, but these houses like made of clay seem to come out of the famous tale of the Grimm brothers, Hansel and Gretel.

Set against the backdrop of the volcanic massifs of Timanfaya National Park, Tias is definitely one of the most beautiful villages in the south of the island. You will find many religious monuments to see absolutely: the hermitage of San Antonio, the church of St. Anthony of Padua, or the church of Our Lady of Candlemas (18th century) are splendid examples of local architecture.

To discover the most beautiful beaches of the Tias region, head for the beautiful sunny stretches of Puerto del Carmen, the village's seaside resort. In all, 6 kilometres of successive beaches and rocks make up its coastline. The Playa Grande, Playa Barrilla, Playa Chica, Playa de Fariones, Playa de Los Pocillos and the immense Playa de Matagorda are among the most beautiful in the resort. The main activity during your stay in Tias? Snorkeling! Playa Chica, in particular, is the ideal place to learn this discipline: equipped with masks and snorkels, you can discover crabs, starfish, rainbow fish, parrot fish, zebra fish and other angel sharks that line the seabed of the coast. Scuba diving, boat trips to meet dolphins and whales that live off Lanzarote, but also surfing, sailing, kitesurfing and paddle will be on the agenda for your days.

It would be a shame to stay in Tias without enjoying the countless hiking trails on the island of Lanzarote. Timanfaya National Park, in particular, is only twenty minutes away: this unique volcanic area is a real paradise for hikers. The Caldera Blanca trekking route is one of the most popular (with its magnificent church of Our Lady of Volcanoes), as is the PR LZ40 path that connects Tias to the vineyards of La Geria. Finally, Guardilama Mountain (603 metres above sea level) and Tinasoria Mountain (503 metres above sea level) will delight thrill-seeking enthusiasts: from their peaks, you can opt for a paragliding or hang-gliding flight, to discover Tias, Timanfaya National Park and the beaches of Puerto del Carmen from the air.
