From the shores of the Mediterranean to the massifs of the Cévennes, passing by the Camargue and the gorges of Gardon, Le Gard offers an incredible palette of landscapes. Little stretched, the coast of the Gard nevertheless has an immense charm. Around the old fishing village of Grau du Roi and its famous Port Camargue, the beaches seem endless and blend into the unique landscapes of the Camargue. At Nimes, the French Rome, admire the remains of the Roman era : arenas, tower Magne Square house door Augustus but also the beautiful religious buildings : Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Castor, Church of St. Perpetua, and -Felicity... Then come to Alès, the gateway to the Cevennes, and enjoy the Vauban Fort, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral and the many parks and gardens of the city. But also visit Saint-Gilles and its abbey built from the seventh century, a World Heritage Site, Aigues-Mortes and its beautiful medieval walls, Uzes for its incredible softness of living and its Fenestrelle tower...
Then take the countless hiking trails (9,000 kilometers of marked and maintained itineraries) or mountain bike trails to appreciate the other must-see sites of the Gard. These paths will lead you under the arches of the magnificent Pont du Gard, also a World Heritage of Unesco, to the Cirque de Navacelles, towards the abyss Bramabiau in the Cevennes National Park or in the heart of the bamboo Anduze. They also allow you to discover more unforgettable cited : Vigan, BarjacSauve, Lussan, Sommières... and make some gourmet stops to sample local flavors focaccia, pork Cevennes, brandade, Camargue rice, pélardons...
