Behind Vielle-Saint-Girons, about twenty minutes from its ocean beaches, Taller is one of those small Landes villages that we love so much. Between tradition and dynamism, tranquillity and dreamy panoramas that invite you to escape, Taller is definitely the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, just a stone's throw from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.

Rich of a very old history, Taller is a small Landes village which shelters less than 700 souls at the year. Nestled in the heart of the forest, this village in the Landes, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, is located 18 kilometres from Dax. A rural commune above all, it is well known to walkers, as it is situated on one of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela, on the via Turonensis, on the way to Dax. During their stay in Taller, holidaymakers and pilgrims alike can discover the typical heritage of the region, such as the meeting hall. Built in 1910 in an elegant Art Nouveau style by the architect Pomade, it is one of the most beautiful monuments in Taller. During your leisurely strolls through the town, it is impossible to miss the village church. Built in the 13th century, the fortified church of Saint Bartholomew impresses with its solidity, the loopholes that pierce the southern façade of the building, and its squat quadrangular bell tower. The washhouse is also worth seeing: built between the 19th and 20th centuries, close to the church, on the banks of the Palue river that waters the village, this washhouse made of solid wood is still in a good state of preservation. It is also the starting point of a cycle track which will lead you from Taller to Castets, then from Castel to the Léon pond.

Apart from its undeniable restfulness, the characterful village of Taller is incredibly well situated to allow you to discover some of the most popular destinations in the Landes. The pond of Léon is in the top three of the must-see places in the area! With its fine sandy beaches and its beautiful sunshine, this 340-hectare lake, the largest in the Landes, is a must for the whole family. If it delights cycling enthusiasts thanks to a whole range of itineraries between the lake's greenway and forest paths, it also knows how to satisfy lovers of water sports. Sailing, pedalling, canoeing, optimist, windsurfing, dinghy, stand-up paddle, everything is allowed here! Especially swimming and sunbathing! Just to the west of the lake, the Courant d'Huchet also attracts the attention of visitors: meandering over more than 600 hectares to the Atlantic Ocean, the Courant d'Huchet, nicknamed the "Landes Amazon", is a little jewel for biodiversity. It is also possible to discover it thanks to short boat trips on flat-bottomed boats called "galupes". Note also that a cycle track called "Lo camin de Hé" connects Taller to Vielle-Saint-Girons via the old railway transformed into a greenway. Along the pine trees, this circuit will lead you tirelessly in the direction of the ocean beaches, ideal for swimming as well as for pauses to perfect your tan, dinners with your feet in the water, and the practice of nautical activities like surfing.
