On the Arcachon basin, 45 kilometres from Bordeaux, Le Teich is an ideal destination for holidays in the heart of nature. Between beaches, pine forest, delta, shady river, ornithological reserve and walks around the basin, your capacity for wonder will be increased tenfold.
Renowned for the quality of its natural environment, Le Teich offers an incredible range of atmospheres and landscapes. You can of course enjoy the Arcachon basin by relaxing on the beach. Ideal for families, it has a gentle slope, a playground for children and picnic areas. But also discover the marshes of the Leyre delta and rent a canoe or paddle to go up the river. Its banks covered with a gallery forest earned it the nickname "Little Amazon" and offer a fantastic spectacle. Then go to the ornithological reserve and explore the marked trails to see the many species of birds it hosts.
Continue your discovery of the Teich by a walk on the quays of the small port and, nearby, go to admire the castle of Ruat, built in the fifteenth, redesigned in the nineteenth century and listed as historic monuments. You can also visit the old quarter of Lamothe where you can see pretty half-timbered houses and the Saint John fountain (17th century) which refreshed pilgrims on this ancient way to Compostela. Then take the many paths that criss-cross the resort on foot or by bike. By bike, you can ride on over 200 kilometers of trails and even join the Vélodyssée which runs along much of the French Atlantic coast.
Ideally located, Le Teich will also allow you to appreciate all the riches of the Arcachon basin. In particular, attack the Pilat dune, the highest in Europe, and enjoy an unforgettable sunset from its summit. Discover the tip of Cap Ferret, its "end of the world" side and its lighthouse, Arcachon and its beautiful villas, La Teste du Buch and its fabulous Banc d'Arguin. Then board a boat for a walk on the pool and see the famous Cabanes Tchanquées that surround Bird Island. And above all, taste the countless flavours of this little corner of the South-West : oysters, mussels, fish, crépinettes, canelés accompanied by a glass of Bordeaux wine.

The Baīa card is a very practical way of getting to Arcachon in 15 minutes (10 journeys, €8), no need to take the car. You can buy the card at the tobacconist's. Oysters at Maison Laban producers and Le Pavois restaurant in Gujan Mestras. Watch out for the Bouchon de Ferret restaurant in Cap Ferret, which costs 36.5 € for a fish fillet and some gnocchi. By car, leave for Biscarrosse around 10 a.m. and return in the evening to Dune du Pyla. Better traffic in this order.

A superb outing: the visit of the Arcachon basin in private pinasse in 1/2 day (with "Les Pinasses du Bassin"): do not hesitate it is superb.

Do not hesitate to use public transport, especially the Baïa train system which allows you to go to Arcachon. Visit of the ports of La Hume and Larros: superb!
