At the end of the Massif des Maures, Bormes-les-Mimosas is a village built on a hillside. The seaside resort faces the Islands of Hyères, in the department of Var. Along the coast, translucent waters with emerald green shadows reflect the shadows of rocks and pines. The beach of Estagnol stretches 475 m long and is sought after for its shady pinewood. It is part of the Domaine de Brégançon, whose origins go back to 1830.
In the area is the Fort of Brégançon, one of the most beautiful sites of the region located at the point of the hamlet of Cabasson. Built in the 11th century, the fort has since become the official residence of the presidents of the Republic.
Favored by a climate of extreme sweetness, nature is incredibly preserved in Bormes-les-Mimosas. Floral heritage, in particular, impresses tourists from passage from the shades of yellow and green of the mimosa to the dark bark of the acacias, passing by the scents of junipers, arbutus, thyme and rosemary, Bormes-les-Mimosas deserves its title of most flowery village of France. The "flowery trip" will guide you through the exotic garden and the park of Cigalou which occupies the heart of the village. Cedars, palm trees, eucalyptus inhabit the nearly 9 hectares of the park and are delimited by the characteristic white pergolas, benches and play areas for children. A little further on, the Gonzalez Park, labeled "Remarkable Garden", has one of the most beautiful collections of acacias in Europe.
For those who do not have the botanical fiber, it is also possible to visit the castle of the Lords of Fos which overlooks Bormes-les-Mimosas. Classified as historical monuments, these ruins offer a breathtaking view over the bay of Le Lavandou, the islands of Levant and Port Cros, the port of La Favière and the private domain of Cap Bénat.
