On the Côte d'Azur, Hyères is an ideal holiday destination for a life-size holiday. Under the Mediterranean sun, between sea, islands and wild hinterland, you will enjoy an exceptional setting but also all the treasures of a Provencal city that has crossed the centuries.
In Hyères, it will be difficult for you to escape the call of the sea. It is also difficult to choose your favourite bathing spot as the resort is full of white sand beaches and small wild coves. The best is to let yourself be guided by your wishes of the moment, between the desire to idleness and the desire to move. As for activities, there again, you will have a wide choice between diving, kayaking, paddle, windsurfing, kitesurfing... If you prefer to go offshore, rent a sailboat or embark on a boat for a walk towards the magnificent golden islands (Porquerolles, Port-Cros, le Levant), true jewels of the Mediterranean.
Then set off to discover the impressive heritage of the seaside resort. Occupied since Prehistory, the territory of Hyères has preserved many traces of its past. Discover, for example, the archaeological site of Olbia whose Greco-Roman city is listed as a historic monument. But also appreciate the more recent buildings such as the tower of the Templars (12th century), Saint-Louis church (13th century), Notre-Dame de Consolation church and Villa Noailles. Then take a little height to go to admire the ramparts and the vestiges of the medieval castle which dominates the city. Built in the 11th century on the Castéou hill, its site offers wonderful views over the bay of Hyères and the hinterland.
Known as "the garden of the Côte d'Azur", Hyères is also seduced by the beauty of its public parks, most of which have been awarded the Jardins Remarquables label. Walking along their paths, you will discover many exotic trees and plants from South America, Australia, Asia... Nature lovers can continue their walk or bike along the marked paths that will take them to the Pesquiers salt works, to the coast of the Giens peninsula or to the Borrels valley. Back in Hyères, treat yourself to a good table to taste all the flavours of Provençal cuisine : aïoli, tapenade, anchoïade, ratatouille, bouillabaisse, bourride...

To visit: peninsulas of Giens and Porquerolles, Hyères centre, the castle and the remarkable gardens. Beautiful walks to do. Everything is nearby.

In Ayguade: a lot of animation. We really enjoyed the restaurant "La Réserve" (with its bar), as well as the restaurant "Le Soleil". Small market on Tuesday evenings as well as bigger markets on Wednesday mornings. At the fort of Brégançon (Bormes les Mimosas): magnificent beach authorized for dogs.

Not far from Hyères, a nice restaurant, good food and not too expensive: "La Guinguette de Carcès", near the lake of the same name. Be careful, it closes from November to March (I think). Call first.

Leave early to take the bus and arrive for the first river shuttle to Hyères. And don't forget to go to Saint Tropez because it is really worth a visit!

The beach of Les Ayguades is quieter and more pleasant too! For the Islands of Porquerolles: take the 10:30 am boat, fifteen minutes of crossing and a little less people on the beaches. The advice... enjoy the place: Hyères, Les Palmiers (very pretty town) and the whole region!
